South African police establish nationality of Ekurhuleni suspect — TimesLIVE
South African police are establishing the identity and nationality of a man detained in connection with the murder of a woman in Ekurhuleni in July. Preliminary information indicates that the suspect may not be a South African citizen, but law enforcement officers are continuing their checks.
Fingerprint verification
Deputy national police commissioner Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili said investigators are comparing the man's fingerprints with police and correctional services records to establish his identity and background. To clarify the circumstances, police are also working with the Department of Home Affairs and state security services.
According to Mosikili, law enforcement officers were told that the detained man is a foreign national, but his country of origin has yet to be determined. Police are also checking whether he may be linked to other cases involving the deaths of women in Ekurhuleni, TimesLIVE reports.

Ninth body in recent weeks
On Thursday, the body of another woman was found in the Dawn Park area of Boksburg. It was partially unclothed, wrapped in a sheet and lying on the roadside. This is the ninth deceased woman whose body has been found in Ekurhuleni in recent weeks. The woman's identity and the circumstances of her death have not yet been publicly confirmed.
Law enforcement officers have not yet established whether all these cases are connected. Mosikili said that the deployment of police forces in areas where the investigation is ongoing is determined by operational intelligence. She stressed that the absence of uniformed patrols in certain places does not mean work on the cases has stopped, and investigators will work around the clock.
