Polish prosecutor requests arrest warrant for two Ukrainians — RMF24

The Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office has applied for a European arrest warrant for two Ukrainian citizens suspected of involvement in sabotage on the Polish railway.

This was announced by Przemysław Nowak, spokesperson for the Polish National Prosecutor’s Office, according to RMF24. He noted that this is the next stage in an investigation that has drawn significant public attention in Poland.

The suspects are Yevgeny Ivanov, born in 1984 in Estonia, and Alexander Kononov, born in 1986 in Ukraine. According to investigators, both allegedly fled Poland for Belarus after committing the crime to avoid prosecution.

Authorities believe the sabotage may have been coordinated from abroad, though all possible leads are being examined. The Warsaw Police Department is searching for the suspects and has circulated their photos as part of international cooperation.

The Polish authorities emphasized that the submission of the European arrest warrant allows the official publication of this information and enables law enforcement in other EU countries to detain the suspects if located.
