Poland has heightened its air defense readiness due to Russian drones flying over Ukraine

On September 10, Poland temporarily placed its air defense forces and assets on high alert due to the activity of Russian jet drones in the western regions of Ukraine.

Polish military officials noted that these measures were preventive in nature and aimed at protecting the country’s airspace.

Polish military commanders stated that the heightened alert status was linked to the activity of Russian drones in Ukrainian airspace near the Polish border.

“The actions were preventive in nature and aimed at ensuring the security of Polish airspace, particularly in areas adjacent to territories that have been targeted by Russian strikes,” the statement said.

The Polish military emphasized that the alert was lifted once the threat had been eliminated. The air defense forces and assets deployed returned to standard operating procedures.

The increase in the Polish forces’ readiness came amid yet another Russian attack on Ukraine. On the evening of September 9, Khmelnytskyi was hit by Russian strikes.

Overnight, the Ukrainian Air Force reported the movement of Russian drones in the north of the Zhytomyr and Rivne regions. In the morning, drones were also detected near Lutsk.

In recent days, Poland has been stepping up measures to protect its airspace amid Russian attacks on Ukraine and incidents of drones approaching Polish territory.

This was reported by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.

In Poland, operations at the Lublin airport have been temporarily suspended due to Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

As a reminder, fires broke out at industrial facilities in the Kyiv region as a result of the Russian attack.

Russia also launched a massive attack on Kyiv, killing and wounding civilians.

Later, rescue workers showed the aftermath of the strikes on Kyiv.

Poland may restore free housing to some Ukrainians.
