Poland requests the waiver of immunity for another MEP — RMF24
Poland's Prosecutor General, Waldemar Żurek, has submitted an official request to the European Parliament demanding that the parliamentary immunity of MEP Patryk Jaki be lifted.
The politician, who is a member of the opposition Law and Justice party, is suspected of abuse of office during his tenure at the Ministry of Justice.
Law enforcement agencies from the Poznań prosecutor’s office are currently actively investigating the criminal case.
According to the investigation, while serving as Deputy Minister of Justice, Patryk Jaki had broad authority to oversee the country’s prison system.
During this time, the official allegedly took actions that violated applicable laws and the interests of the civil service.
Investigators determined that the former deputy minister improperly influenced personnel decisions regarding one of the department’s employees.
Thanks to this intervention, the employee received a promotion and a guarantee of reinstatement to a managerial position. At the same time, the official ignored the fact that the subordinate had previously been subject to disciplinary proceedings.
This was reported by the Polish publication RMF24.
