Cyprus Ambassador Kula Sophianou notes blend of technology and culture in Jiangsu — ECNS
In Suzhou, China, foreign diplomats visited sites as part of the event “Explore People-Centered Cities: China's Governance, Global Engagement (Shanghai and Jiangsu),” organized by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As ECNS reports, participants learned about local traditional intangible cultural heritage and the practical results of the urban governance approach that the Chinese side characterizes as people-centered.
Visit to Suzhou
Diplomatic representatives visited, among other places, the Humble Administrator’s Garden and the Suzhou Industrial Park in Jiangsu Province.
During the visit, Cyprus’ Ambassador to China Kula Sophianou highly praised Jiangsu’s development. She also noted the hospitality of local residents.

Assessment of the region’s development
According to Sophianou, technological development in Jiangsu is combined with the preservation of cultural heritage. She noted that the region’s young researchers are engaged in innovation in areas such as robotics and drones.
The ambassador also said that urban governance policy is focused on people’s needs and, in her assessment, makes city life more accessible and comfortable.
