US Ambassador to Israel Huckabee again calls attackers of Palestinians terrorists
As Anadolu Agency reports, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has again called Israeli settlers who attack Palestinians in the occupied West Bank “terrorists.” According to him, such violence harms Israel’s reputation around the world and in the United States.
In an interview with Israeli public broadcaster KAN, Huckabee said that Israel needs friends rather than new enemies. He also expressed concern that young Americans may form their perception of Israel through reports of settler violence against Palestinians.
Incident in Bazaria
Earlier, Huckabee called settlers who last month besieged residents of the Palestinian town of Qusra in the northern West Bank “Israeli terrorists.”
Following these statements, settlers last week attempted to set fire to a mosque in Bazaria, in the Nablus Governorate, the agency reported. Racist graffiti was also left at the scene, including: “Huckabee, greetings from the terrorists.” The ambassador said he was not personally concerned about the inscriptions, but called the incident serious because of the damage to Israel’s image, particularly among American Republicans.

The West Bank and Iran
Anadolu Agency notes that Huckabee holds Christian Zionist views and has previously visited Israeli settlements in the West Bank. He has also said that the presence of settlers in this territory is legal.
The UN considers the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, occupied Palestinian territory and regards Israeli changes to its status, including settlement activity, as illegal. According to Palestinian data, about 750,000 settlers live there in 156 settlements and 360 settlement outposts.
Separately, Huckabee said that Iran is in a very weak military and economic position. He also rejected claims that US President Donald Trump had postponed the Iranian nuclear issue and was negotiating only over the Strait of Hormuz.
