Fire damages Falvey's Sundowner pub in Queensland
In Queensland, Australia, a fire engulfed the Falvey's Sundowner Saloon pub on the Warrego Highway in the town of Haigslea, on the route between Brisbane and Toowoomba. The building sustained significant damage, and part of its roof collapsed.
Firefighting efforts
According to ABC News Australia, the fire started at about 8:30. Acting Queensland Fire Department Inspector Dan Scellern said firefighters arrived to find thick black smoke and first ensured that everyone had left the building.
Six fire engines and two specialised vehicles were deployed to extinguish the fire. According to Scellern, the spread of the blaze was aided by a significant fire load inside the premises, including carpets and gaming machines. The fire was brought under control before 11:00.

Service station evacuation
A worker who was inside the building at the start of the fire and attempted to put out the flames before emergency services arrived was examined for smoke inhalation. The fire did not spread to the adjacent liquor store.
A nearby service station was evacuated as a precaution when toxic smoke began moving in its direction. Fuel supplies at the station were isolated to eliminate a potential risk. The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
