PPP in Pakistan demands data on Maryam Nawaz’s aircraft lease — Dawn
In Pakistan, Faisal Mir, head of the Lahore chapter of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), demanded that the authorities disclose details of the official account to which, he said, the payment for the aircraft lease of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was allegedly transferred. Dawn reports.
Demand to provide payment details
During an event marking the birthday of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Mir called on Maryam Nawaz to disclose the bank’s name, the account name and number, as well as the receipt confirming that the funds were credited.
He stated that in the absence of official, verifiable documents regarding payment for the aircraft lease, the party would consider that facts had been concealed from the public.

According to Mir, the PPP will appeal to the relevant legal body to establish the truthfulness of Maryam Nawaz’s statement and the circumstances of the alleged payment. He also stated that if the Punjab chief minister misled the public, measures should be taken against her in accordance with the constitution and the law.
Statements on equality before the law
Mir stressed that the law must be the same for everyone. He stated that the same principle under which Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani was disqualified should be applied to the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
The PPP representative also criticized the ruling party, stating that its budget policy allegedly grants benefits to the wealthy and places the burden of inflation on the poor. He proposed introducing an additional tax of at least 50,000 Pakistani rupees on cars with engine displacement exceeding 1,500 cubic centimeters.
