Czech Prime Minister Calls for the Resignation of the Leader of the Motorists Party, Who Rammed an Ambulance
Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš called on Filip Turek, honorary president of the coalition party “Motorists,” to resign from his position as Green Deal commissioner following a traffic accident in central Prague.
New footage from surveillance cameras shows a Mercedes G-Class, driven by Turek, passing a line of cars in the far right lane, swerve sharply to the right, and crash into an emergency vehicle with flashing lights and a siren, causing the emergency vehicle to overturn.
Prime Minister Andrej Babiš called for a swift investigation and urged the politician to take responsibility, noting that the situation was a hair’s breadth away from a much greater tragedy. Representatives of the ANO movement expressed similar views: Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Patrik Naher called such driving a display of arrogance, and Government Commissioner for Human Rights Tatiana Mala condemned the irresponsible driving.
Footage from a city surveillance camera captures the moment before the accident, showing Turek barreling into the intersection from the turning lane just as everyone else had stopped to yield to the passing emergency vehicle with its lights flashing. pic.twitter.com/0lOZv3AjHT
