The Prime Minister of the Netherlands met with Zelenskyy and reaffirmed his support for Ukraine

Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten reaffirmed his unwavering support for Ukraine following a conversation with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to him, Russia’s war against Ukraine remains one of the main topics at the UN General Assembly.

“The war in Ukraine is one of the main topics at the UN General Assembly. With winter approaching and against the backdrop of ongoing Russian attacks on civilian targets and energy infrastructure, it is extremely important to maintain and strengthen support for Ukraine. 

In particular, this concerns air defense and support for energy supplies,” wrote the Dutch Prime Minister.

According to Rob Jetten, during his conversation with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, they discussed Ukraine’s urgent needs and the assistance that the Netherlands and Europe can provide.

Separately, the interlocutors raised the issue of necessary reforms in Ukraine, strengthening the rule of law, and the fight against corruption.

“The Netherlands will continue to stand firmly by Ukraine’s side for the sake of its security—and thus the security of all of Europe,” Jetten emphasized.

Meanwhile, Volodymyr Zelenskyy is holding a series of meetings with international partners in New York, particularly regarding the strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense ahead of winter.

Earlier, the Ukrainian president discussed with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte the issue of interceptors for the Patriot systems and a winter support package.

Zelenskyy also stated that one of the key elements in strengthening Ukraine’s position should be a winter package of missiles for air defense.

According to him, the package should include 100 missiles for Patriot systems per month, or a total of 300 missiles for the winter period.

Ukraine expects its partners to strengthen its air defense and support its energy infrastructure amid Russian attacks and the approaching winter.

Prior to this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in New York. The talks took place on September 23, 2026, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in New York. The main topics of discussion were sanctions against Russia, financial support for Ukraine, and the situation amid the war. Zelenskyy stated that lifting restrictions on certain Russian oligarchs at this time would be the wrong move.

On September 22, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with U.S. President Donald Trump in New York. The talks took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and lasted about 40 minutes, after which the presidents concluded the meeting without publicly announcing any specific new agreements.
