New South Wales premier concludes trade mission to India
New South Wales Premier Chris Minns has concluded a four-day trade mission to India. During the visit, the state government signed an agreement with technology company HCLTech and announced the filming of three Indian movies in New South Wales, ABC News Australia reports.
Agreements during the visit
Before departing on Friday, Minns visited a studio and met with Bollywood producer Sajid Nadiadwala. During the visit, it was announced that three films would be shot in New South Wales, including a sequel to the 2007 film Heyy Babyy.
Earlier, the state government signed an agreement to provide HCLTech with state-developed traffic management technology. Minns also launched Western Sydney University's Indian campus and held meetings on attracting investment in the state's critical minerals.
According to the premier, India has the fastest-growing economy among the world's major economies and is interested in what New South Wales has to offer. He stressed that developing trade relations requires work and face-to-face meetings.

Shooting in Sydney
While Minns was in Mumbai, police in Sydney were establishing the circumstances of violence linked to a confrontation between criminal groups. The killings of Marco Tapia and Joshua McDonald, based on the information available at the time, may have been cases of mistaken identity.
The premier cancelled a planned media event during the visit to receive a briefing from New South Wales Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon. Minns said that his physical absence from Sydney did not hinder coordination, as he could contact the commissioner via Teams.
At the same time, the mission did not produce agreements with Indian airlines on direct flights to Western Sydney Airport. Tourism industry representatives also told the premier that Australia's visa process makes it difficult for Indian tourists to travel to the country.
