Croatian President Cancels International Summit Over Serbian Leader's Statements — Euractiv
Croatian President Zoran Milanović has officially canceled the May "Brdo-Brijuni" summit due to harsh statements made by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
This was reported by Euractiv.
The Croatian leader is convinced that the rhetoric coming from official Belgrade recently poses a direct threat to the stability of the entire Southeast European region.
The annual summit was launched in 2013 by Croatia and Slovenia as a platform to accelerate the European integration of Balkan states.
This year, the presidents of Albania, Bosnia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and the host countries were expected to attend the meeting.
However, Milanović took a firm stance, stating that Vucic’s visit to Croatia was impossible under the current circumstances.
The Croatian president’s statement emphasizes that his Serbian counterpart’s actions “undermine interstate relations and threaten peace and stability.”
“Under these circumstances, the conditions for Vucic’s visit to Croatia do not exist, and such a visit is impossible,” Zoran Milanovic concluded.
He added that the event is being postponed until favorable conditions are created and consultations with Slovenia are completed.
As a reminder, Vučić stated that Europe is preparing for a possible war with Russia.
Putin promised Serbia gas supplies at a price half the market rate.
