The President of Latvia stated that there is no direct military threat from Russia
Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs stated that there is currently no direct military threat to the country from Russia, the aggressor state. At the same time, he noted that the threat of sabotage cannot be ruled out and urged citizens to remain vigilant.
This was reported by “European Truth” with reference to LSM. According to the president, the security situation is changing rapidly: what was relevant a few months ago may no longer be so, while new risks are emerging.
Rinkēvičs thanked the security agencies and urged the public to immediately report any suspicious circumstances. He also emphasized that it is nearly impossible to anticipate all possible scenarios and be fully prepared for everything.
Earlier, the Latvian president confirmed that he had received intelligence regarding the likelihood of Russian provocations against the Baltic states. Following this, Latvia strengthened the protection of its critical infrastructure.
