Prince Harry will visit the United Kingdom next week without his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children. According to media reports, the family will remain in the United States because the Duke and his family will not have state police protection during their stay in the country.
It has been reported that Prince Harry, who plans to visit the United Kingdom next week, will not be accompanied by his wife and children as originally planned, since it has been confirmed that the family will not be provided with police protection at the expense of the British taxpayer.
At the same time, the BBC notes that they may still join Harry later, when his trip continues in the Midlands region.
It is currently unclear whether King Charles will meet with his two grandchildren, aged seven and five, whom he has not seen in person for four years.
London had previously been cited as the most likely location for the royal family’s reunion after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex accepted an invitation to stay at the royal residence with their two children.
At the same time, the publication notes that Buckingham Palace does not comment on private family matters.
Prince Harry is scheduled to visit a children’s hospital in Birmingham on Thursday to support the work of the charity WellChild, which he has continued to support since moving to the United States.
According to available information, Prince Harry and his family also planned to visit his mother’s grave.
If Meghan does come to the United Kingdom later this week, she plans to join her husband at the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham to mark the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games.
Discussions regarding security arrangements for the latter part of the visit are ongoing, but a final decision has not yet been made.
Sources close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have reported that the cancellation of the royal family’s visit to London is linked to concerns raised by Prince Harry’s personal security detail, which has been reviewing the arrangements for several days.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle last visited the United Kingdom together in 2022 for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. Since then, the Duke of Sussex has traveled to the country on his own; in particular, last year he met with his father, King Charles III.
