Ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah extended by three weeks — Trump

Following a strategic meeting with Israeli and Lebanese officials in the Oval Office, U.S. President Donald Trump officially announced the extension of the ceasefire for another three weeks.

Sky News reports this.

The American leader emphasized that this diplomatic pause is critically important for preparing a long-term peace agreement.

Key figures from the administration participated in the negotiations at the White House, including Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the U.S. ambassadors to Israel and Lebanon.

The parties discussed mechanisms for stabilizing the region and ways to minimize the influence of terrorist groups on Lebanon’s state institutions.

“The meeting went very well! The United States will cooperate with Lebanon to help it defend itself against Hezbollah. The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will be extended for three weeks,” the U.S. president announced on his social media platform Truth Social.

The leaders of both countries—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun—plan to visit Washington within the next twenty-one days.

Their face-to-face meeting at the White House is expected to be the final step before signing a historic non-aggression pact.

The U.S. president expressed a high level of optimism regarding the resolution of the long-standing conflict, noting that making peace in this region could be significantly easier than other geopolitical challenges.

“I think this should be an easy peace compared to some of the things we’re working on,” he added.

The U.S. administration considers a complete cessation of external interference in Lebanon’s affairs to be a key condition for future stability.

In particular, the U.S. president emphasized that Iran will have to permanently stop funding Hezbollah militants as part of global agreements between Washington and Tehran.

Trump stated that there is no timeline for ending the war with Iran

Prior to this, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran has repeatedly violated the ceasefire since its implementation between Washington and Tehran. According to Trump, there have been numerous incidents that cast doubt on Iran’s compliance with the ceasefire agreements.

Trumpexpressed his willingness to meet personally with Iran’s new leadership.

US President Donald Trump also announced progress in negotiations with Iran, under which Washington would allegedly receive all of Tehran’s enriched uranium without any financial payments.

Additionally, Israel agreed to a 10-day ceasefire with Lebanon and announced the start of a move toward a diplomatic settlement; however, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that the war against Hezbollah is not yet over and military operations will continue.
