German industrial production fell by 1.1% in July

Industrial production in Germany fell by 1.1% in July compared with June, according to preliminary data from the Federal Statistical Office Destatis. On an annual basis, the indicator declined by 1.6%. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.

Revision of June data

Destatis revised its estimate of industrial production for June: instead of the previously reported 0.2% increase, the office now recorded no change on a monthly basis.

Production in industry excluding energy and construction fell by 2.2% in July compared with June. Energy-intensive industries reduced output by 1.7%.

Automotive industry

In the automotive industry, production decreased by 9.2% over the month. The German Association of the Automotive Industry linked this decline to a production suspension lasting several weeks.

Output of capital goods fell by 3.4%, consumer goods by 2.2%, and investment goods by 0.2%.

Energy and construction

At the same time, energy production increased by 4.7% in July, primarily due to electricity generation from wind and photovoltaic systems. Construction output rose by 0.9% on a monthly basis.

The less volatile three-month comparison showed that total industrial production increased by 0.4% in May–July compared with the previous three months.
