Putin and Trump spoke on the phone for 1.5 hours

U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin held a lengthy phone conversation during which they discussed the current situation in Ukraine and the prospects for ending hostilities

The conversation, which lasted 1 hour and 25 minutes, took place on Saturday, July 4, at the initiative of the U.S. side.

Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian president, described the conversation as “businesslike and very constructive.”

According to him, during the discussion, Vladimir Putin congratulated the U.S. president on America’s Independence Day.

The parties paid particular attention to the issue of resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

Yuri Ushakov emphasized that “the U.S. president once again confirmed his readiness to work toward ending hostilities as soon as possible and finding solutions to overcome the crisis.”

For his part, the Kremlin representative stated that Russia allegedly “seeks a diplomatic resolution to the conflict,” but only on its own terms.

During the conversation, Vladimir Putin briefed the U.S. president on the “actual situation on the battlefield,” claiming that Russian troops are reportedly advancing steadily.

Further diplomatic contacts were also discussed during the talks. Yuri Ushakov reported that Washington’s envoys—Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner—will continue their efforts to resolve the situation.

They expressed their readiness to make another visit to Moscow in the near future to continue consultations.

Trump declared the resurgence of the communist threat in the U.S. during a speech marking the 250th anniversary of independence

On July 4, the United States of America celebrates Independence Day—one of the country’s most important national holidays. It was on this day in 1776 that the Declaration of Independence was adopted, proclaiming the creation of a new state and its separation from Great Britain. For Americans, this date symbolizes freedom, democracy, and national unity.

Abnormally high temperatures in late June caused a sharp rise in electricity prices on European energy exchanges. Meteorologists predict that a new heat wave in July could keep prices high.

A powerful heat wave has swept across the central and eastern states of the U.S., forcing authorities to cancel or postpone dozens of events commemorating the 250th anniversary of the country’s independence.
