Trump’s approval rating falls to record low of 32% — The Guardian

In the United States, President Donald Trump’s job approval rating in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll has fallen to a record low of 32%. As The Guardian reports, the poll also recorded Trump’s loss of support among independent voters and Hispanic Americans who backed him in 2024.

Support among Hispanic Americans

According to an NBC News/Telemundo poll, the results of which were released on Sunday, 59% of Hispanic voters prefer Democratic Party control of Congress. This is twice the share of those who supported the party two years ago. According to the same poll, 24% of Hispanic Americans approve of Trump’s performance as president.

Trump’s reaction and the midterm elections

Before flying to Nebraska on Monday, Trump brushed aside questions about his ratings. Responding to a journalist’s question about losing support among Hispanic voters, the president said: “I’m doing great,” and also blamed CNN and the media.

In recent days, Trump has campaigned in various parts of the country for Republican Party candidates. The Guardian notes that some Republicans have begun distancing themselves from the president, particularly over immigration issues. The midterm elections, which will determine control of Congress, are due to take place in about a month.
