On the morning of June 1, a maternity ward at a medical facility in the southern part of the Odesa region was damaged as a result of a Russian attack. According to local authorities, a woman in labor was inside the facility at the time of the strike. Neither the patients nor the medical staff were injured. The incident occurred as a result of shelling targeting civilian infrastructure in the region.
This was reported with reference to Oleg Kipper, head of the Odesa Regional State Administration.
“As a result of the attack, the maternity ward and administrative buildings of the hospital were damaged. The facade, doors, and more than 30 windows of the medical facility were damaged,” the statement said.
Kiper noted that there were six women who had recently given birth with their infants in the ward, and one woman was in labor.
“Fortunately, neither the patients nor the staff were injured. Work to address the damage is ongoing,” the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration concluded.
