Russia has established three identical military bases with an unknown purpose, according to Defense Express

Analyst H.I. Sutton stated that since 2022, Russia has built three military facilities of the same type in different locations—in occupied Crimea, on Lake Ladoga, and on the White Sea coast.

This was reported by Defense Express.

According to the study, all three complexes are located in territories controlled by the Russian Ministry of Defense:

  • Crimea — near Krasnokamianka, not far from Sudak, on the site of the former “Central Storage Base No. 712”
  • Lake Ladoga — approximately 50 km from St. Petersburg, on the territory of a former Soviet tank training ground
  • White Sea — the “Nenoksa” test site in the Arkhangelsk region, where strategic missile systems are tested.

In all three cases, a similar structure is observed:

  • inflatable arched hangars
  • containers connected by cables or pipes
  • concrete or earthen platforms
  • a perimeter consisting of two rows of fencing
  • enhanced protection against natural elements, particularly lightning

Construction in Crimea began in the fall of 2022, and the first hangar appeared as early as November. According to available data, the facility was fully commissioned in July 2024.

Analysts note that satellite images show almost no personnel, a lack of typical logistical infrastructure, and no signs of active economic activity.

This, according to researchers, may indicate a specific or covert purpose for these facilities, which has not been officially disclosed.

In addition, Russian troops are expanding infrastructure for launching Shahed-type strike drones near the border with Ukraine. According to observations, the new launch site is located less than 200 km from the Ukrainian border.
