Russian bloggers covered Rotaru's hit song; the song's composer is demanding an explanation
Russian blogger Igor Sinyak and musician Sergei Grigoriev-Apollonov performed the Ukrainian song “Odna Kalina.” Composer Ruslan Kvinta, who wrote Sofia Rotaru’s hit song, stated that he did not give the Russian artists permission to perform this song.
Kvinta asked the Russian performers to explain on what grounds they used the song.
Ruslan Kvinta noted that the performance of “Odna Kalina” by Russian blogger-artists “damages his honor and dignity” as the song’s author. At the same time, he emphasized that such a rendition of the song distorts its original intent and meaning.
“I did not give my consent for these individuals to perform the song. This performance and the context of the presentation have defiled the work, presented it in a context that harms my honor and dignity, and distorted the work’s original intent; therefore, this constitutes a violation of the right to the integrity of the work and the protection of my creative reputation. The protection of my honor, dignity, and reputation are my non-property rights,” the composer wrote.
In addition, Ruslan Kvinta wrote on Instagram to Serhiy Hryhoriev-Apollonov, who personally performed the song “Odna Kalyna” at his concert in Berlin. It is not yet known whether the composer received a response from the artist.
Separately, Kvinta posted a story on Instagram where he reposted a clip from the Russians’ performance. “What about rights?” he added in the story.
Russian bloggers prematurely declared their troops dead in Kupiansk.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian Armed Forces secretly surrounded Kupiansk while Putin was celebrating its “capture.”
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have also almost completely cleared Kupiansk of Russian forces.
