Russian frigate fires signal devices toward Danish military helicopter
In international waters near the coast of Denmark, a Russian frigate on Monday fired two signal pyrotechnic devices in the direction of a Danish military helicopter. According to the Danish military command, they narrowly missed the aircraft.
Scheduled helicopter mission
The helicopter was carrying out a scheduled mission to photograph the Russian frigate. The Danish Defence Command explained that such pyrotechnic devices are usually used at sea as a warning signal.

Copenhagen’s reaction
Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen told TV2 that Denmark will summon Russia’s ambassador in Copenhagen for a meeting over the incident. The embassy of the aggressor state, Russia, did not provide a comment in response to journalists’ request sent outside regular working hours.
