Kim Kardashian awarded symbolic €1 in France over Paris robbery
In Paris, France, reality TV star Kim Kardashian was awarded symbolic compensation of €1 from some of the people convicted in the 2016 robbery case. At the time, the attackers tied her up in a hotel, threatened her with a weapon and stole jewelry, including a $4 million engagement ring. The ring was given to her by her then-husband, rapper Kanye West, now known as Ye.
As TimesLIVE reports, Kardashian sought the symbolic amount in a civil damages case against some of the people convicted in May 2025. During the hearings, she testified that she thought she was going to die at the time of the attack.
Compensation for the receptionist
The hotel receptionist was another plaintiff in the case. According to his lawyer, he sought €500,000 in compensation and received about €110,000. Kardashian’s lawyers in Paris did not respond to a request for comment.

Sentences in the attack case
The attackers wore ski masks and posed as police officers. In France, they are often called “grandpa robbers” because of their age. At the time the crime was committed, it was the largest robbery in France in 20 years.
Most of the stolen jewelry, including the engagement ring, has never been found. During the 2025 hearings, Kardashian told the robbery’s organizer, Aomar Aït Khedache, who was 69 at the time, that she forgave him, but this did not take away her trauma. Aït Khedache was imprisoned for three years, while seven other people were convicted of crimes related to the robbery.
