The Russian satellite internet service "Rassvet" will be tested on trains
The Russian company “X-Holding” plans to test the “Rassvet” satellite internet service while a Russian Railways (RZD) train is in motion.
The first user trials of the terminals began in August. The next stage will involve testing a mobile terminal designed to operate at speeds of up to 400 km/h.
During the tests, the company plans to evaluate connection stability and the equipment’s ability to maintain satellite communication while in motion.
The company also plans to use the technology in various modes of transportation and unmanned vehicles in the future.
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has authorized Zhejiang Geespace to conduct a two-year commercial trial of satellite Internet of Things (IoT) services. This decision marks another step toward opening this segment to private companies, according to ECNS.
Kyivstar has expanded the capabilities of its Starlink Direct to Cell satellite connectivity and launched mobile data transmission in Light Data mode, which allows users to access basic online services even without a terrestrial network. Ukrainians will be able to use messaging apps, access maps, and exchange messages via satellite. The technology is being positioned as a backup communication method during outages and crises.
