Rubio arrived at the G7 summit in France to discuss the war in Ukraine

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio joined the G7 ministerial meeting, which is taking place at the Abbey of Vaux-de-Cerne near Paris.

This was reported by a Ukrinform correspondent.

This is the first visit by the head of U.S. diplomacy to Europe since the start of the joint U.S.-Israeli military operation against Iran.

The main topics on the summit’s agenda will be Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, tensions in the Middle East, and general threats to global stability.

Diplomatic sources emphasize that the ministers will focus on finding common security mechanisms.

“The focus will be on the war between Russia and Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, and threats to peace and stability around the world,” correspondents report from the scene.

Marco Rubio is expected to address his counterparts from Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Italy, and Japan with a specific request.

Specifically, this involves engaging allies to restore free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, which is currently effectively paralyzed.

Four key working sessions are scheduled for the second day of the meeting.

One of them will take place in an expanded “G7 plus Ukraine” format, where further steps to support Kyiv amid the ongoing war will be discussed.

Ministers will also address cross-border threats to state sovereignty and the impact of Iran’s actions on the stability of the entire region.

The administration, represented by U.S. President Donald Trump, is currently placing special emphasis on countering Iranian influence.

As a reminder, Marco Rubio announced progress in U.S. negotiations with Iran.

Rubio will also participate in the meeting of G7 foreign ministers in France.
