Romania scrambled fighter jets in response to an aerial target near the border with Ukraine

On the night of September 30, the Romanian Ministry of Defense detected an aerial target moving from the direction of the Odesa region. Allied fighter jets were scrambled to monitor the situation.

On Tuesday night, the Romanian Ministry of Defense’s radar surveillance system detected an aerial target moving east of Izmail near the river border with Romania.

To monitor the situation, two F-18 fighter jets from the Spanish Air and Space Forces, which were on combat duty as part of the reinforced air policing mission, were scrambled.

The military command center also notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the need to implement public alert measures in the northern part of the Tulcea border county.

The air raid alert was issued at 12:35 a.m.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense emphasized that no intrusion into the country’s airspace had been detected.

At the same time, the statement noted that the air force continued to monitor the situation in the border area.

The information also indicated that the air raid alert was lifted at 00:10.

Romania has been scrambling fighter jets for several days in a row due to drone activity near the border with Ukraine.

In addition, the Polish military once again deployed aircraft in its airspace in response to another Russian attack on Ukrainian territory. 

As a reminder, on September 21, Poland and Latvia put their military aviation on alert amid reports of an air threat. In Poland, this occurred during a Russian attack on Ukraine, while in Latvia, the alert concerned the Kraślava region.

On the night of September 30, Russian forces attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles and drones. The strikes caused fires in four districts of the capital, and two women were killed.

Starting in the evening of September 29, Russian forces attacked three districts in the Dnipropetrovsk region with drones. The strikes damaged infrastructure and caused fires.

On the morning of September 30, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with drones. During an air raid alert, explosions were heard in Rivne and later in Lutsk.

A drone strike in the Kyiv region caused a fire in residential buildings; two people were rescued.

As a reminder, debris from a Russian drone caused a fire in a five-story building in Kyiv.
