SDF Report Intense Shelling of Aleppo’s Sheikh Maqsoud District
The Syrian Democratic Forces say the densely populated Sheikh Maqsoud district of Aleppo is coming under intense and heavy shelling, with frequent explosions, fires and thick smoke seen rising from residential buildings.
According to the SDF, the neighbourhood is being targeted by forces and militias affiliated with the Damascus government using heavy weapons, including tanks and artillery.
The group also reported attempts by government-aligned forces to advance into the area with armoured vehicles. These advances, it said, are facing fierce and ongoing resistance from SDF units.
The SDF described the shelling as a large-scale assault on residential areas and said it reflects a pattern of systematic destruction against the civilian population. Fighting in and around the district continues, and the situation remains highly volatile.
