Seven of the eight people killed in the shooting in Louisiana were the killer's own children
The investigation has determined that 31-year-old Shamar Elkins, who carried out the mass shooting in Shreveport, was the biological father of seven of the eight children he shot.
The tragedy, which occurred on April 19, claimed the lives of children aged 3 to 11, according to the Associated Press. Law enforcement confirmed the family relationship after identifying all the victims found inside the house and on its roof.
The horrific details of the incident suggest that the man deliberately killed his children amid a divorce from his wife. In addition to Elkins’ own children, another child who was in the home was killed during the shooting. Police note that a domestic dispute led the man to effectively wipe out nearly his entire family before he was shot and killed during the pursuit.
Currently, two women remain in critical condition, including the mother of the slain children, who was injured at the start of the attack. Investigators continue to review the history of police calls to this family regarding domestic violence. The incident in Shreveport has been officially classified as an act of violence, where the vast majority of the victims were directly related to the attacker by blood.
A bloody tragedy has shaken the American town of Shreveport, Louisiana, where an armed man carried out a mass shooting at two different private homes. The cause of the mass killing was a “domestic dispute” that escalated into uncontrolled aggression involving the use of firearms. The perpetrator attempted to flee the scene in a stolen car, but was shot and killed by police during the pursuit.
Law enforcement officials classified the shooting in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, which resulted in the deaths of seven people, as a terrorist act.
