Sheinbaum will keep federal forces in Sinaloa — Mexico News Daily
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said that federal security forces will remain in the state of Sinaloa for as long as necessary. According to Mexico News Daily, in Culiacán she stressed that the government would not withdraw army, National Guard and Navy units from the state.
According to Sheinbaum, these forces will continue to support Governor Graciela Domínguez and the people of Sinaloa. The president also said that Domínguez could count on the federal government's full support.
Visits by federal officials
Sheinbaum said that federal officials would arrive in the state in stages to respond directly to residents' needs. Representatives of the security cabinet are to visit Sinaloa this week, followed by officials from the agriculture ministry and other agencies.
The president also promised support for farmers, calling agriculture the foundation of the state's economy. According to the publication, Sinaloa's economy contracted by 4.5% in the first quarter of the year amid security problems and cartel-related violence.

Statements on the role of the United States
Sheinbaum reiterated her position that the current wave of violence in Sinaloa began after U.S. involvement in the capture of drug lord Ismael Zambada in July 2024. She described it as Zambada's removal to the United States and said that before it, the number of killings in the state, according to her, was fewer than one per day, while violence later intensified.
The president said that Mexico does not want intervention by any foreign government on its territory because, according to her, intervention generates violence, while cooperation for development promotes peace. Sinaloa has been experiencing a confrontation between factions of the Sinaloa cartel for two years.
This was Sheinbaum's first visit to the state since information was published in April about charges brought by U.S. federal prosecutors against former governor Rubén Rocha and nine other state government and law enforcement representatives. Prosecutors alleged their possible links to drug trafficking.
