The statement notes that the party leadership has “deeply studied global energy development trends” and adopted important decisions to advance a new energy security strategy. Xi Jinping emphasized that coal remains the foundation of China’s energy system, despite the country’s commitment to low-carbon development.

The Chinese leader highlighted that the country’s early focus on harnessing wind and solar energy proved farsighted. Additionally, China will continue to develop hydropower and nuclear energy to diversify its energy sources.

The People’s Republic of China, one of the world’s largest economies, has long invested heavily in renewable energy and technological innovation in this sector. Energy plays a critical role in the country’s stable economic growth and national security.

Thus, Xi Jinping’s stance demonstrates the country’s goal to balance traditional energy sources with environmentally friendly technologies in order to maintain stability and security amid current geopolitical challenges.

In the near future, stronger state-backed programs to support renewable energy development are expected, alongside modernization of coal power plants to reduce environmental impact and improve energy efficiency.
