The U.S. may send troops to strategic islands near Iran
Following a series of meetings with his closest advisers, U.S. President Donald Trump is considering expanding U.S. military operations against Iran. Among the options being discussed are intensifying airstrikes on Iranian targets and deploying troops to strategically important islands near the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the publication, during one of the meetings at the White House Situation Room, Trump and his team discussed the possibility of establishing control over certain territories along the Strait of Hormuz, specifically the island of Kharg. According to sources, Vice President J.D. Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hagseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Kane participated in the consultations. No final decision on expanding the military operation has been made yet.
