The U.S. is discussing the deployment of nuclear forces in new European countries — Financial Times
The United States is in talks regarding the possible deployment of its nuclear weapons in several additional European countries. According to sources familiar with the discussions, the plan involves American bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons.
Currently, such aircraft are based in six countries. NATO members located closer to Russia’s borders, particularly Poland and the Baltic states, have expressed interest in hosting bombers on their territory.
Discussions on expanding the list of countries where U.S. bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons can be based are intended to reassure U.S. NATO allies that a reduction in traditional military support will not weaken security guarantees.
The Financial Times reports on this.
