The U.S. has extended the ban on Russian ships entering its ports for another year

U.S. President Donald Trump has extended the ban on Russian ships docking at U.S. ports for another year. This decision automatically extends the state of emergency in the maritime sector previously declared by the Biden administration.

This was reported by the U.S. Federal Register.

The restrictions will remain in effect until at least spring 2027. In this way, Washington is maintaining intense pressure on Russia’s maritime logistics and effectively continuing its transport isolation from the United States.

“I am extending the state of emergency for another year... regarding the regulation of anchorage and the movement of vessels owned by Russia in U.S. ports,” the executive order states.

The sanctions apply not only to Russian state-owned vessels but also to all ships with any connection to Russia. The document notes that the aggressor country continues to pose a threat to U.S. national security.

A state of emergency in this area was first declared in April 2022 in response to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Since then, U.S. authorities have reviewed and extended these restrictions annually.

Earlier, the tanker Deyna, which is linked to Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet,” left French territorial waters after paying a fine.

Tankers and cargo ships continue to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, despite statements about a “blockade” by the U.S. Analysts have recorded dozens of passages in the first days following its implementation. Some of the vessels are subject to sanctions, while others have already departed from Iranian ports. The data also reveals discrepancies with official statements from the U.S. military.
