The U.S. has lifted sanctions against the Belarusian Ministry of Finance and "Belaruskali"
On March 26, the United States lifted sanctions against the Belarusian Ministry of Finance, the Development Bank, and the company "Belaruskali," as well as a number of affiliated entities.
This was reported by the U.S. Treasury Department.
As noted, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued General License No. 14, which permits certain transactions involving Belarusian financial institutions.
The U.S. Treasury Department explained that, following consultations with the State Department, the circumstances no longer justify the previous restrictions on the Belarusian Ministry of Finance and the Development Bank.
At the same time, OFAC updated the sanctions list, which still includes some Belarusian companies and banks.
Recall that Lukashenkoannounced a “major deal” with the U.S. at Trump’s suggestion.
Earlier, the U.S. and Lukashenko agreedon the release of more than 250 Belarusian political prisoners.
