The U.S. struck a drug traffickers' vessel in the Caribbean Sea; there are fatalities
The U.S. military carried out a lethal strike against a high-speed vessel traveling along established drug-trafficking routes in the Caribbean. Four people, whom U.S. officials identified as drug traffickers, were killed in the operation.
According to U.S. military authorities, the strike took place on August 25 under the command of General Francis Donovan. The operation was carried out by the Southern Spear Combined Task Force.
SOUTHCOM stated that intelligence confirmed the vessel’s involvement in drug trafficking.
“On August 25, under the command of General Donovan, the Southern Spear Joint Task Force delivered a lethal kinetic strike against a high-speed vessel traveling along established drug trafficking routes in the Caribbean. Confirmed intelligence revealed the vessel’s active involvement in drug trafficking,” the U.S. command’s statement said.
Four people were killed in the strike. This operation marked yet another U.S. strike against vessels that U.S. authorities link to drug trafficking.
At the same time, the SOUTHCOM statement did not provide detailed evidence regarding exactly what drugs the vessel was transporting or who owned it. The U.S. command limited itself to stating that there was confirmed intelligence regarding the vessel’s involvement in drug trafficking.

Earlier, the U.S. military reported the destruction of a vessel that, according to their information, was being used to transport drugs in the Caribbean Sea. Two people were killed as a result of the strike.
