The U.S. is providing Poland with a new billion-dollar loan for military equipment

The U.S. is providing Poland with a new billion-dollar loan for military equipment

The United States is providing Poland with a new $4 billion loan to purchase American military equipment. The funding is part of the Foreign Military Financing program and is intended to further strengthen Warsaw’s defense capabilities. The total amount of funds available to Poland under this program is approaching $20 billion.

The U.S. continues to expand its military-financial cooperation with Poland by providing a new $4 billion loan for the purchase of American weapons. This was announced by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Thomas DiNanno during official events marking the introduction of F-35 fighter jets into the Polish Armed Forces.

The funding is provided under the Foreign Military Financing program, which provides loans and grants to U.S. allies for the purchase of American military equipment. Poland can use the funds to pay for contracts and purchase new equipment, including modern fighter jets. According to the U.S. official, the new $4 billion package effectively increases the total available funding for Poland to nearly $20 billion. This means that Warsaw will be able to continue expanding its defense purchases in the U.S. without placing a significant burden on the state budget. “$4 billion is a new amount that will bring the total funding available to Poland to nearly $20 billion,” Thomas DiNanno noted.

This is not the first time Poland has utilized the mechanisms of this program. In recent years, the country has secured approximately $15 billion under the Foreign Military Financing program, directing these funds primarily toward the purchase of American weapons and accelerating the modernization of the army. As specified, the new funds may be used, in particular, for further purchases of fifth-generation F-35 fighter jets, which are already gradually being integrated into the Polish Air Force.

The issue of funding for defense procurement was also discussed at the level of the Polish Ministry of Defense. Following the ceremony marking the F-35’s entry into service, Poland’s defense minister confirmed that the country is counting on continued support from the U.S. “Poland will have another opportunity to take advantage of Foreign Military Financing,” he noted, commenting on the prospects for new procurements.

According to him, the program allows the country to plan long-term defense investments and fulfill contracts already signed with American arms manufacturers. Warsaw emphasizes that cooperation with the U.S. in the defense sector is a key component of the country’s security policy, especially given the growing military risks in the region.

Thus, the new loan package only reinforces the already established trend toward deepening the military-technical partnership between the U.S. and Poland, which has been steadily expanding in recent years.

The Polish charity fund Sikorki na Ukrainie has launched a fundraising campaign on the Zrzutka.pl platform to purchase 15 old, 17-year-old buses from the city of Kielce and donate them to the residents of Vinnytsia. The organizers aim to raise 500,000 zlotys. As of the evening of June 11, nearly 57,000 zlotys have already been raised.
