The U.S. has stated that time is working against Russia in the war with Ukraine
On June 23, the U.S. stated that Russia must reach an agreement with Ukraine to end the war, since, according to Washington’s assessment, prolonging the conflict is not in Moscow’s interests.
Dan Negrea, Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN, emphasized that Russia needs to reach an agreement because time is working against it. In explaining his position, the diplomat noted that the Russian army is losing about 40,000 soldiers each month to casualties, and that the Russian economy is currently in an extremely dire situation.
In contrast, Ukraine is demonstrating rapid implementation of innovations directly on the front lines. Negria emphasized that the war unleashed by Russia has gone on for far too long and must end, as no other means besides diplomacy and negotiations can stop the senseless killings.
In conclusion, the U.S. representative stated Washington’s clear intention to secure an immediate ceasefire and conclude a peace agreement through negotiations as soon as possible. The diplomat concluded that the time has come and called on both Russia and Ukraine to return to the negotiating table without delay to end the war.
