GSP Stadium in Cyprus plans to upgrade fan services
The management of GSP Stadium in Cyprus plans to modernize the arena’s infrastructure, reorganize its athletics division and create new sources of revenue. These priorities were outlined by GSP’s new general manager, Giorgos Yapanas, Cyprus Mail reports.
Stadium and service upgrades
According to Yapanas, the primary task is to maintain and upgrade the stadium’s facilities so that they remain safe, functional and modern for athletes and fans. He said that GSP aims to strengthen its sporting identity and become a well-maintained, modern and welcoming sports centre.
The stadium also plans to fully reorganize its food services. The plan calls for a higher-quality menu, faster service and more comfortable conditions for visitors during breaks.
Special attention will be given to reorganizing the athletics division. An academy and the development of new athletes are intended to form the foundation of this area.

Revenue and team obligations
Another area will be commercial development: strategic sponsorships, hosting non-football events, upgrading food services and using other facilities within the complex. The goal is to gradually reduce GSP’s dependence on revenue from football teams and establish a more stable and diversified funding model.
Yapanas described the possible departure of one of Nicosia’s two major teams from the stadium as a serious challenge to GSP’s financial viability. According to him, the administration has examined how such a scenario could affect the association’s financial performance and operations.
The general manager also said that teams’ debts to GSP are a reality, and that APOEL has substantial outstanding debt. GSP collects teams’ revenue from advertising, boxes, food establishments and other sources, and credits these funds against their obligations.
