Starmer: Russia may be ready to attack NATO as early as 2030

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that, according to assessments by British intelligence and NATO allies, Russia could be capable of launching a direct attack on Alliance countries as early as 2030.

He made these remarks during a visit to a defense facility in Swindon.

According to Starmer, this threat assessment is the basis for the British government’s decisions to increase defense spending and expand arms production.

“If you need a reminder of the importance of this, it is our intelligence assessment and that of other NATO countries that Russia could attack NATO as early as 2030. So you can see the urgency and priority we place on this issue,” the British prime minister stated.

Against the backdrop of growing security risks, London plans to allocate over 18 billion pounds in additional funding for the defense industry.

According to British media reports, the package in question was the subject of lengthy discussions within the government but was ultimately approved. The plan is expected to be officially presented in the coming weeks.

Starmer emphasized that investments in the defense sector will not only strengthen the country’s security but also help create new jobs and expand production at companies across the UK.
