Abu Dhabi court recovers Dh7.8 million for 948 workers — The National
The Abu Dhabi Labour Court in the UAE secured the payment of Dh7.8 million, or $2.1 million, in dues for 948 workers. The money was recovered after three labour disputes were settled, The National reports.
Payments and repayment schedules
The total value of claims in these disputes was Dh12.3 million. Payments were secured through court deposits and direct agreements between employers and workers. The Abu Dhabi Labour Court, the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and the parties to the disputes were involved in the process.
Full amounts were received by 457 workers, while another 491 workers were paid part of the money owed to them. Outstanding balances were included in structured instalment plans to continue debt recovery.

Employment and dispute resolution
The settlement reached also allowed workers to retain their jobs at the companies involved in the disputes. The court said the outcome reflects its approach to the prompt consideration of labour cases and the protection of workers' rights in accordance with applicable legislation.
In the first half of 2026, the ministry amicably settled 185,793 labour disputes, accounting for 98.6% of all cases. A total of 2,481 cases, or 1.4% of the total, were referred to court. The ministry has the authority to independently consider labour claims worth up to Dh50,000. The UAE also has an updated Wage Protection System that monitors employers' compliance with wage payment requirements and helps identify delays at an early stage.
