A court in Kazakhstan has ordered Gazprom to pay $1.4 billion — Naftogaz
The Astana International Financial Centre Court has authorized the compulsory enforcement of approximately $1.4 billion against the Russian company Gazprom in favor of Naftogaz of Ukraine. The decision recognizes the arbitral award and allows for its enforcement within Kazakhstan.
This was reported by the Naftogaz group.
"This is the first public foreign court decision allowing for the enforcement of this arbitration award in a separate jurisdiction," noted Serhiy Koretskyi, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine.
“We are continuing our systematic efforts to recover compensation from the Russian gas monopoly in accordance with the international arbitration award,” he added.
Koretsky thanked Naftogaz’s legal team for their professional and persistent work.

As a reminder, in 2025, mobile internet was shut down over 11,000 times in Russia.
Additionally, sanctions, the loss of foreign markets, and the deterioration of the global economic situation have exposed the structural weakness of Russia’s regional budgets.
