US court bans adding Trump’s name to Kennedy Center building
A federal judge in Washington, DC, USA, has prohibited the board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts from placing President Donald Trump’s name on the institution’s main building and renaming the campus in his honor.
Judge’s ruling
As CNBC Top News reports, the decision was made by US District Judge Christopher Cooper in Washington. In his ruling, he stated that the defendants may not install memorials at the Kennedy Center honoring Trump, other people, or anything else without congressional approval.
Cooper also indicated that the board’s resolution contradicts a previous federal court decision and a law passed by Congress.

Board resolution
Democratic Ohio Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, who serves on the center’s board ex officio, went to court. She asked to block the consequences of the board’s August 13 resolution, adopted to recognize and honor Trump’s future contribution to preserving the center.
The new decision was made four months after the same judge ruled that Trump’s name could not be added to the Kennedy Center’s official name.
