In particular, August 21 marks the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, and February 12 marks the International Day for the Prevention of Violent Extremism When It Contributes to Terrorism.
Therefore, in the Ukrainian media landscape, it is more accurate to view September 11 as a date dedicated to commemorating the fight against terrorism and the consequences of the 2001 terrorist attacks. That is precisely why, every year on this day, people commemorate the victims, discuss the dangers of terrorist organizations, and emphasize the importance of international cooperation.
Why September 11?
The reason for choosing this date is linked to the events of September 11, 2001. That morning, 19 terrorists affiliated with al-Qaeda hijacked four passenger planes. Two of them crashed into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York, and another into the Pentagon building near Washington.
