Singapore to send 20 athletes to Asian Para Games in Japan
Singapore will send 20 athletes to the 2026 Asian Para Games, to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, in October. The team will compete in nine sports, Channel NewsAsia reports.

Singaporean athletes will compete in para archery, para athletics, para badminton, boccia, para road cycling, para judo, para swimming, shooting para sport and para table tennis.
The Singapore National Paralympic Council said that for eight participants, these will be their first Asian Para Games. This number also includes athletes who have previously competed at the event but will make their debut in a different sport this time.
Former Paralympic sailor Jovin Tan will compete in boccia, while former Paralympic swimmer Theresa Goh will compete in shooting para sport. The team will have its largest representation in para swimming, with four athletes. Singapore will be represented by three participants each in boccia and para road cycling.

James Ethan Ang will be the flag bearer
Para athlete James Ethan Ang will carry Singapore's flag at the opening ceremony. Minister for Culture, Community and Youth David Neo handed the national flag to Singapore delegation head Low Si Lien during a ceremony at Gardens by the Bay in Singapore.
Low Si Lien is also vice-president of the Singapore National Paralympic Council. He previously led the country's delegation at the 2022 ASEAN Para Games in Solo, Indonesia. According to him, the team is focused on preparing athletes and officials for the competition.
The fifth Asian Para Games will run from October 18 to 24. They are expected to bring together about 3,000 para athletes from Asian countries competing in 18 sports.
