Terrorism in Africa surged 100,000% during the ‘war on terror’

A new U.S. Department of Defense report reveals that violence across Africa today is significantly worse than before the American military intervened with the stated goal of helping combat terrorism. This highlights serious consequences of foreign involvement in the region.

According to the Africa Center for Strategic Studies, affiliated with the Pentagon, the death toll in Africa has increased by more than 100,000% since the U.S. launched its war on terror. Such a massive rise in violence raises questions about the effectiveness of military interventions on the continent.

This development prompts debates over the need to reassess counterterrorism strategies in Africa and to seek more comprehensive approaches that consider local contexts and avoid further escalation of conflicts.
