Tikhanovskaya was denied permission to open an account at a Polish bank because her passport had expired
Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said she was unable to open a bank account in Poland because her Belarusian passport had expired.
According to her, after moving there, she approached a Polish bank but was turned down. Tikhanovskaya explained that she has Lithuanian documents, but her Belarusian passport is no longer valid, so she plans to try opening an account at another bank.
She also noted that Polish authorities are working to resolve issues related to legalization and banking services for Belarusians, although this process is proceeding slowly due to the country’s other priorities.
