China’s services trade rose 8.3% in the first seven months of 2026
China’s services trade volume in the first seven months of 2026 reached nearly 4.45 trillion yuan, or $663 billion, up 8.3% from a year earlier. This was reported by ECNS, citing data from China’s Ministry of Commerce.
Services exports rose 17.1% year on year to more than 1.77 trillion yuan. Imports amounted to 2.67 trillion yuan, increasing by 3.2%. The services trade deficit reached 900.25 billion yuan in January through July.
Knowledge-intensive services
Exports of knowledge-intensive services, which Chinese statistics classify as telecommunications, information technology, financial services, intellectual property and other business services, rose 12.2% to 948.28 billion yuan. This segment accounted for 53.5% of the country’s total services exports.

Vice Minister of Commerce Yan Dong said that under the 15th Five-Year Plan for 2026–2030, China intends to develop new areas of services trade. These include exports of services in research and development, design, testing, maintenance and supply chain logistics, as well as the use of artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
Fair in Beijing
The 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services is scheduled to take place in Beijing from Wednesday to Sunday. About 90 countries, regions and international organizations, as well as more than 1,800 companies in an offline format, are expected to participate.
Beijing has already expanded openness in the telecommunications and biotechnology sectors and introduced measures to simplify cross-border data flows. The city also plans to further open modern services sectors, including the digital economy and healthcare. FedEx said its expanded logistics hub at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport is expected to begin operating by the end of the year.
