Trump Unveiled the Design of a Commemorative U.S. Passport Featuring His Image

The U.S. has unveiled the design of a commemorative passport marking the 250th anniversary of the country's independence. Donald Trump presented the image of the document, calling it a symbolic update to the government's design style. The question of this design’s official status remains open for now.

The United States has unveiled a special edition passport, which is planned to be issued in a limited run to mark the country’s 250th anniversary. The initiative is linked to preparations for a large-scale national anniversary celebration to be held this year. The released images have sparked lively discussion, as they combine national symbols with historical motifs and a modern presentation.

Donald Trump posted a rendering of the new passport on his social media platform, Truth Social, accompanied by the caption: “The new U.S. passport, which reads: ‘Welcome, but behave yourself!’” The published pages show his portrait next to the famous “Resolute” desk, as well as excerpts from the U.S. Declaration of Independence. Another section features John Trumbull’s famous historical painting *The Declaration of Independence*, which has long been considered one of the visual symbols of American statehood.

Of particular note is that the portrait of Trump in the design is based on his likeness from the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., which lends the project an official and, at the same time, political tone. Following the publication, the White House also shared these images on social media platform X, captioning them as “The New U.S. Passport in Honor of America’s 250th Anniversary.”

At the same time, the U.S. has not yet confirmed whether this version will become the final official design of the document. Administration officials referred journalists to the State Department, which has not yet provided any comments. All that is known is that the idea of a limited-edition anniversary passport was announced back in April as part of the preparations for celebrating this major historical milestone.

According to preliminary information, the new design may be used only in special cases when processing documents at the Washington passport office, while most citizens will continue to receive passports in their usual form. Thus, the project is more symbolic in nature and is intended to highlight this anniversary period in U.S. history rather than completely overhaul the passport issuance system. CNN reports this.
