Trump Threatened Iran with Renewed Strikes if Diplomacy Fails – Axios

U.S. President Donald Trump announced the decision to temporarily suspend military strikes against Iran in order to give diplomatic negotiations another chance. At the same time, the American leader clearly warned Tehran that, in the absence of rapid progress, Washington would immediately resume even more extensive military operations.

According to him, the decision to pause the attacks was made at the request of mediating countries, and the consultations themselves should yield results as soon as possible.

The negotiation process is currently focused on reopening the Strait of Hormuz to restore safe shipping and on preparing for new consultations regarding the nuclear agreement. The talks are taking place primarily through Oman, with the active participation of Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, and U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Trump also noted that following the announcement of a temporary suspension of attacks, global oil prices fell and the stock market rose.

Iran had previously stated that it had not asked the U.S. to resume negotiations and that it continues to control the Strait of Hormuz. These statements came after U.S. President Donald Trump suspended the campaign of airstrikes against Iran.

The U.S. postponed a planned large-scale military operation against Iran due to a shortage of interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense systems.

The United Kingdom commented on Iran’s threats.
