Trump predicts a swift end to the war in Ukraine and denied reaching any agreements with Russia

During a press briefing ahead of his visit to China, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his belief that the war launched by Russia is in its final stages.

The American leader emphasized that he believes the end of hostilities is very near. At the same time, he denied speculation regarding any agreements with Putin on territorial concessions. Trump clearly denied the existence of any understanding regarding the transfer of the entire Donbas region under Russian control as part of a future settlement.

Official Washington continues to insist on a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, but the details of the peace plan are not being disclosed at this time. The president’s statement came amid intensified international efforts to find a format for ending the war. The U.S. administration’s next steps will depend on the parties’ readiness to engage in the negotiation process under acceptable terms.

Earlier, on May 7, Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and head of the Ukrainian negotiating team, arrived in Miami, Florida, for talks with U.S. representatives.

In reality, Russia is not committed to a genuine end to the war with Ukraine. All so-called negotiations, including those mediated by the U.S., are merely a sham on Moscow’s part.
